JULY 2005

Front of the house leading on to the garden.

APRIL 2006

A coat of paint only but total destruction of the garden due to the new septic tank that has been installed!!

JULY  2006

The whole front (minus shutters) is now painted and the grass/weeds are starting to grow in the rubble.
SEPT 2006

Just a change of view from the bottom of the garden.  Grass and weeds cut for us by our neighbour.
2007

New shutters installed and painted.
Garden 1/3 of an acre.

What more can I say!!  See above.
Some grass growing and cut, workmen putting up the gates in the background
Another view change from the bottom of the garden.  Weeds growing well but cut!

Top soil delivered and in the process of being spread.

Back of the house on to the road.

Shutters painted, plaster chipped away in corner to reveal stone underneath which will be exposed and pointed.

The stone work exposed and looking great.

Barn doors painted just waiting for the hinges to be painted black.

Inside of shutters painted at last, also hinges and fittings.

Back of house showing old shutters & garden gate, gate has now disappeared waiting for new fence etc.

The new shutters that we even got around to painting but it seems the camera did not catch up with final 'new look'.

The new fence and gates up and painted.

Next door neighbour's barn at the end of our fence.

Final coat of paint now on.

Kitchen/Diner.

The orange wall has been demolished to make one large room.  The dining room table will go at the back of here behind the kitchen centre island.  New room now 30 sq metres.
Kitchen wallpapered, painted and waiting for the dining room table.  The black cloth disguises the inappropriate camping table!!

July 2007 curtains up in the Kitchen/dining area - no space in the April → 2007 column!!

New table and new cupboards now installed.

Kitchen before.

Dramatic change.
We even have the fridge in now.
The pot rack has made its appearance here.
New cupboards installed on the side next to fridge.

This will be the spare room, apart from all the wall paper now stripped off this view has changed little. The room though has been shortened to allow for steps up into the barn.

The shortened room, new door into the lower part of the barn.  New steps behind the new partition lead upstairs from the lounge.

Floor sanded and treated. All painted and finished other than the door.
Maybe not 5 star but somewhere for visitors to lay their weary bones. Curtains to go up here next visit. Rail bought and ready to install.

Curtains up and double bed moved from our room to the spare room for visitors.

Lounge

Change of floor only here as we were using the lounge as living and sleeping quarters.
Interesting note with the wall paper now removed!
20 Oct 1969. Obviously it was time it was done. The new paper and paint will go on in the September visit.

Lounge papered and painted all we need now are the curtain rails  and curtains - nearly there!

Xmas 2007. Looking more like home, curtains up and a few pictures on the wall.

Entrance to Spare room before

Entrance moved back and new stairs in place.
Alcove finished except for the door.  Surrounding walls of the lounge still to be papered & painted. Some of this was done in April but the camera did not keep up!

Lounge wall surround now papered and painted.

Looking a little less bare!

Earthen floor room/barn for conversion to our en suite bedroom.

Dramatic changes here to our bedroom! The picture says it all.

We have at last moved in!

No changes here.

The builder telling us how to convert with a looooong story!

Can you believe it!!!   This is the same view minus the builder.  The rough plaster is to be painted, the stone work will remain as is.

Looking more like home. Back wall and ceiling painted now.

Ditto.

The big double bed now in our room and the smaller bed moved to the spare room.

Area for ensuite.

Ensuite completed; the painting of ceiling still has to be done.
All finished other than the door to be painted.

Ditto.

The back of the bedroom as it was before with the low ceiling.

The old ceiling removed, sky light and new ceiling in.  The corner of the ensuite shown on the right.  Door to the left leads to the passage and main part of the house.

Ceiling painted. Rough plaster painted but the colour around the door is to be changed back to 'naturel'.

Paint around bedroom door back to 'naturel'.

Upstairs in the barn, a new floor has been laid here over the spare room.

No the barn does not look like this now!!!  Just a view of the sunset over the destroyed garden.
Upstairs in the barn over bedroom two floor laid, wall on right to go in still and hatch to open to the stairs. This will eventually be bedroom three.

Sunset Sept 06

Sunset after a very stormy day - June 07

Bathroom, No changes here as yet.

No neither has the bathroom turned into the farmyard but these guys are our neighbours.
Wall paper removed waiting for the September visit. The tiles are the same but the light is obviously different!

Looking very much brighter.

Bathroom 2020
Passage before.

Same view with a 'little' work done here!

Second coat of paint here. Looks much the same.

Entrance hall before.

Entrance hall now!

Second coat of paint here as well.
The African influence has moved in!

We're not sure what happened here but the builder left the kitchen door opening looking like this. Crossed wires in translation ?

Taking up plastering now as well!!  Not bad for a first effort!

Kitchen door recovered from the junk in the barn, restored and replaced.

Loo Before - if you are interested!

Loo now - if you are still interested!
